Individuals classified with a severe disability who have a personal assistant have the right to have a paid personal assistant provided by local public authorities, in order to facilitate equal opportunities, ensure an autonomous life, and promote social inclusion. The Social Assistance Direction (DAS) is obligated to take the necessary measures to ensure the employment of personal assistants for all individuals in need who are classified as having a severe disability with a personal assistant, without any discrimination. The Department for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities and Monitoring of Personal Assistants oversees the activities of personal assistants.
In order to be classified as a personal assistant, the applicant must have their domicile or residence in the municipality of Reșița.
